At Hexagon US Federal, we're seeking a GIS System Engineer to join our Cartographic Web Services (CWS) Team. CWS is a proven solution for rapid production of cartographic products, leveraging over 30 years of research and development into automating the cartographic process. As a GIS System Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining new/existing automated mapping workflows and support files for CWS. You'll work closely with senior team members on design and enhancements supporting various government organizations and end users, ensuring compliance with specifications alongside cartographic subject matter experts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in design and implementation of cartographic automation workflows
- Performing cartographic tasks related to GIS concepts, imagery analysis, and geospatial map production
- Recommending appropriate GIS strategies based on analysis results
- Delivering new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Managing end-to-end delivery of workflow support files
- Installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining application software and system management tools
- Monitoring and optimizing application performance
- Providing end-user support
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geography, or relevant coursework in geographic information science with 8+ years of experience
- Advanced knowledge of GIS software (GeoMedia, DCS, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, etc.)
- Experience with FME, relational databases, and web services
- Proficiency with Windows Operating System
- US citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance

- Experience with FME (Feature Manipulation Engine)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
- Experience with web services (e.g. WFS, WMS, WCS)
- Proficient with Windows Operating System (Desktop and Server)
- US citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance
