Description For Control Center Maintenance Engineer

Hitachi Rail STS USA, INC. is seeking a Control Center Maintenance Engineer to join their team in Boston, Massachusetts. This role combines software engineering and rail systems expertise, focusing on Positive Train Control (PTC) systems maintenance and optimization.

The position involves working with complex embedded systems, requiring a mix of software and hardware knowledge. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Back Office, Wayside, and Onboard PTC systems, as well as analyzing system data to identify trends and areas for improvement. They will work closely with the engineering team to implement changes and updates to the systems.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, along with practical experience in PTC systems or similar technology. Strong technical skills in system configuration, firmware troubleshooting, and software upgrades are essential. The role requires excellent problem-solving abilities and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Control Center Maintenance Engineer

  • Assist with field and lab activities, including updates, changes, and testing
  • Provide support for monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting PTC systems
  • Collaborate with Engineering team on implementation of engineering changes
  • Analyze data from PTC systems to identify trends and issues
  • Respond to requests from MBTA and subcontractors
  • Escalate issues to Level II and project management when needed
  • Perform PTC-related duties as assigned

Requirements For Control Center Maintenance Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency in PTC (Positive Train Control) systems
  • Knowledge of Back Office, Wayside, and Onboard PTC systems
  • Experience with configuring system parameters and communication systems
  • Familiarity with MicroLok firmware and hardware troubleshooting
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • English proficiency
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday (08:00 AM-05:00 PM) plus emergency support
