HRL Laboratories is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge MEMS IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) technology that is revolutionizing navigation systems. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer to join their team in Malibu, California.

The position involves working on navigation-grade precision IMUs that provide reliable guidance in GPS-degraded environments, offering cost-effective solutions for automotive and aerospace applications. As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you'll be part of a dynamic team that designs, fabricates, and tests MEMS sensor components and subsystems.

The role requires strong technical expertise in embedded systems programming, with proficiency in Python and C/C++. You'll work with various hardware platforms, including FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers, and need to understand PCB design and mixed signal circuit board evaluation. Knowledge of Xilinx Zynq SoCs and experience with Verilog/VHDL are essential skills for this position.

Responsibilities For Embedded Systems Engineer - Inertial Sensors

  • Work with scientists and engineers to develop state of the art subsystems for position, navigation and timing applications
  • Design, fabricate, integrate and test MEMS sensor components and subsystems
  • Deploy custom-built embedded solutions in environmental tests and field demonstrations
  • Interface with vendors to establish supply chain partners
  • Build drivers for custom hardware and scientific instruments
  • Write test and control software for complex systems
  • Develop emulations and simulations of hardware devices
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
