Description For Mechanical Engineer Thermal Analyst

HRL Laboratories is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer Thermal Analyst to join their Mixed Signal Solutions department. This role involves leading R&D efforts focused on thermo-mechanical design and characterization of complex mixed-signal sub-systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive analyses of integrated mechanical and electrical systems
  • Driving design optimization through detailed models
  • Managing research projects and technical teams
  • Providing mentorship and guidance
  • Developing relationships with vendors and partner organizations
  • Communicating results through written reports and oral presentations
  • Leading proposal and marketing efforts

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in designing and analyzing complex systems
  • 5+ years of experience in developing partnerships and leading R&D efforts
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis software and simulation tools
  • Experience with CAD design and FEM analysis
  • Familiarity with system engineering practices
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

This position offers a competitive salary range of $163,150 - $209,088 plus bonus and benefits. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Requirements For Mechanical Engineer Thermal Analyst

  • More than 10 years of experience in designing and analyzing complex systems
  • More than 5 years of experience developing partnerships and leading R&D efforts
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis software and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent, Thermal Desktop)
  • Experience with CAD design (e.g. SolidWorks), FEM analysis
  • Familiarity with standard system engineering practices
  • MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, or related scientific discipline
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
