Description For Jr. Network Engineer

INflow Federal is seeking a Jr. Network Engineer to join their team in Portsmouth, VA. This role involves working with a diverse network including Cisco, Aruba, Brocade, Juniper, Riverbed, and McAfee devices. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience as a Network Technician, strong project coordination skills, and a fundamental understanding of the OSI Model.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Handling outage and maintenance tickets for 20,000+ users
  • Troubleshooting layer 1-3 issues
  • Installing and upgrading network devices
  • Managing COMSEC/TACLANES
  • Configuring and reconfiguring devices
  • Resolving LAN/WAN outages

Requirements:

  • DoD Secret clearance
  • OEM network support certification
  • OS/Application Certification (Microsoft/Cisco preferred)
  • CCNA certification is a plus

Responsibilities For Jr. Network Engineer

  • Handle outage and maintenance tickets for 20,000+ users
  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting for layer 1-3 issues
  • Install and upgrade network devices (routers, switches, COMSEC/TACLANES, IPS, wireless controllers, WAN accelerators)
  • Configure and reconfigure devices
  • Resolve LAN/WAN outages
  • Manage COMSEC operations, including TACLANE troubleshooting and re-keying
  • Document and report incident causes and corrective actions
  • Follow and implement processes according to current policies and procedures

Requirements For Jr. Network Engineer

  • DoD Secret clearance
  • OEM network support certification
  • OS/Application Certification (Microsoft/Cisco)
  • 4+ years experience as a Network Technician
  • Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model
  • Experience with operational support and configuration of network devices
  • Knowledge of network protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP is a plus)
  • Experience with wireless technologies, VPNs, IPS, and WAN Accelerators
