Senior Software Engineer

Intuit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build and evolve the core backend systems powering our next-generation tax platform. This role sits at the intersection of high-scale backend engineering and language runtime integration, working on business-critical tax calculation engines.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing scalable backend systems that support our tax development language and runtime. You'll work with modern technologies and frameworks while contributing to the modernization of legacy systems. The role involves deep technical work with Java and C++ in a distributed, service-oriented architecture.

You'll collaborate closely with compiler/runtime engineers and AI/ML teams to support intelligent language tooling, while ensuring system reliability and operational excellence. This position offers the opportunity to work on performance-critical components and make significant architectural decisions that impact millions of users.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of backend development experience and a strong foundation in systems-level programming. You should be comfortable with JVM internals, performance optimization, and distributed systems architecture. Experience with modern DevOps practices and a track record of building scalable production systems is essential.
