Staff Software Engineer

Intuit is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team and help build and evolve the core backend systems that power our next-generation tax platform. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of high-scale backend engineering and language runtime integration.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll work on systems that underpin our business-critical tax calculation engines, contributing to the scalability, reliability, and performance of services that support critical tax logic execution. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing performance-critical components using Java and C++ in a distributed, service-oriented architecture.

In this role, you'll collaborate with compiler/runtime engineers and AI/ML teams to support intelligent language tooling, while ensuring system reliability and operational excellence. You'll have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team. We're particularly interested in candidates who have experience with language runtime environments and a track record of building scalable, distributed systems.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of professional experience in backend or systems-level software development, with strong programming skills in Java, C#, and/or C++. You should have solid understanding of performance optimization, multithreading, and memory management, as well as experience with modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
