Description For Automation Engineer

JLL, a global leader in real estate and investment management with over 200 years of history, is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their team in Everett, WA. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies in a Fortune 500 company that shapes the future of real estate.

The position focuses on designing, developing, and implementing automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment. You'll be working with advanced technologies including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices. As an Automation Engineer, you'll serve as the site's technical expert, mentoring apprentices while ensuring compliance with safety and technical requirements. The role involves hands-on work with PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks, and various control systems. You'll be responsible for monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience with PLC-controlled automation, robotics work cells, and Ladder Logic programming. A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or automation engineering is preferred, though equivalent experience is accepted. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders are essential.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Site technical expert in automation control systems
  • Train and mentor Automation Apprentices
  • Design and develop control systems and software programs
  • Implement and optimize automation processes
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems and machinery
  • Work closely with client teams for MHE systems optimization
  • Monitor MHE metrics and analyze system performance
  • Provide first level escalation support
  • Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement projects

Requirements For Automation Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent OR 2+ years of equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Problem-solving mindset for debugging systems
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders
