Description For Automation Engineer

JLL, a Fortune 500® company with over 200 years of history in commercial real estate and investment management, is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies in a well-established global organization.

The position focuses on designing, developing, and implementing automation control systems for various industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance of systems including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Acting as the site technical expert in automation control systems
  • Designing and developing control systems and software programs
  • Training and mentoring Automation Apprentices
  • Troubleshooting complex systems and providing first-level escalation support
  • Working with PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks
  • Implementing continuous improvement projects

The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $90,000 to $135,000 USD annually, along with comprehensive benefits including 401(k) with company matching, medical/dental/vision coverage, and paid parental leave at 100% salary.

This position is ideal for candidates with a strong background in engineering principles, programming languages, and control system technologies. The role requires 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation, robotics work cells, and Ladder Logic programming. Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Design and develop control systems and software programs
  • Implement and optimize automation processes
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control systems and machinery
  • Train and mentor Automation Apprentices
  • Monitor MHE metrics and partner with maintenance/operations
  • Act as first level escalation support
  • Facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines

Requirements For Automation Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent OR 2+ years of equivalent professional experience
  • 2+ years of experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • 2+ years of experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Problem-solving mindset for debugging systems
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders
