Description For Raw Material Developer

Knix is a fast-growing, innovative direct-to-consumer intimate apparel brand seeking a Raw Material Developer to support their product development process. This role involves applying new thinking to fabric creation and sourcing, bringing product capabilities to life through expert knowledge of fabric performance and functionality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the end-to-end seasonal design and development process
  • Traveling to fabric shows for sourcing
  • Partnering with fabric suppliers for innovation and technical support
  • Managing the fabric development calendar
  • Coordinating meetings between mills, design & product development teams
  • Executing technical validation for raw materials
  • Collaborating with QA on fabric testing and risk assessments
  • Participating in cross-functional meetings

The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of Fabric R&D/Production experience, strong knowledge of apparel manufacturing and performance fabric testing, and established partnerships with fabric suppliers. They should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities For Raw Material Developer

  • Support end-to-end seasonal design and development process
  • Travel to fabric shows for sourcing
  • Partner with fabric suppliers for innovation and technical support
  • Manage fabric development calendar
  • Coordinate meetings between mills, design & product development teams
  • Complete fabrication details in tech packs
  • Execute technical validation for raw materials
  • Collaborate with QA on fabric testing and risk assessments
  • Follow new fabric concepts through fitting, testing, and approval
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings

Requirements For Raw Material Developer

  • 4-5 years of Fabric R&D/Production experience
  • Knowledge of apparel manufacturing process and performance fabric testing protocols
  • Strong raw material construction knowledge
  • Understanding of raw material manufacturing techniques
  • Awareness of raw material trend direction and R&D avenues
  • Established partnerships with fabric suppliers
  • Understanding of AATCC and ASTM industry test methods
  • Experience visiting mill/fabric facilities
  • Strong ability to lead and influence decision-making
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Great attention to detail and high level of organization
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines
