LinkedIn is seeking a Director of Software Engineering, Machine Learning to lead their Content Abuse Engineering charter in Bangalore, India. This is a strategic leadership role within LinkedIn's Trust organization, focused on keeping the platform safe and trusted through cutting-edge AI technology.
The role combines technical expertise in machine learning with significant people leadership responsibilities. The selected candidate will lead both the Content Abuse AI team, which builds models to prevent and detect violating and low-quality content, and the Content Abuse Apps Engineering team, which develops end-to-end engineering solutions for content moderation.
The position requires deep technical knowledge in machine learning, particularly in areas like natural language processing, computer vision, generative AI, and large language models. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years of ML experience and 10+ years of people management experience, including managing large teams of 30+ individuals and first-line managers.
Key responsibilities include leading AI and apps engineering teams, owning multiple technical charters (embedding-based retrieval, generative AI, AI productivity, core foundational models), partnering with cross-functional teams on content moderation roadmaps, and working with LinkedIn India leadership to build the company's AI presence in India.

- Lead the Content Abuse Engineering charter including AI team and Apps Engineering
- Lead team of AI and apps engineers and managers
- Own multiple charters including embedding based retrieval, generative AI, AI productivity, core foundational models
- Partner with cross functional leads to define near-term and long-term roadmaps for content moderation
- Work closely with LinkedIn India leadership to build LinkedIn's brand in India, focusing on AI
Requirements For Director, Software Engineering, Machine Learning
- 15+ years experience in machine learning, particularly in NLP, computer vision, generative AI, large language models, or similar areas
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or related engineering experience
- 10+ years experience in people management
- 5+ years managing teams of 30+ individuals and first-line managers
- Strong background in machine learning and data mining techniques
- Good understanding of large scale engineering systems
- Experience in content moderation
- Strong leadership abilities to communicate and drive cross-functional efforts
