Marriott Vacations Worldwide (NYSE: VAC) is seeking a Lead Application Support Engineer (SRE) to join their Global Technology team. This role is crucial for maintaining the reliability, performance, and availability of applications that support MVW's operations. The ideal candidate will bring 5-8 years of software development experience and strong expertise in J2EE applications, cloud infrastructure, and modern monitoring tools.

The position offers an opportunity to work with a leading global vacation company that serves over 700,000 owner families across approximately 120 vacation ownership resorts. As an SRE lead, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver innovative solutions, working with various technologies including Java Springboot, React/NodeJS, and cloud platforms.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to guide level 1 and level 2 support teams. You'll be responsible for implementing monitoring systems, automating processes, and ensuring optimal application performance. Responsibilities For Lead Application Support Engineer (SRE)

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to J2EE applications
  • Implement and manage incident management processes
  • Develop and maintain monitoring and alerting systems using APM tools
  • Analyze performance data using Splunk or similar log analysis tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct root cause analysis for complex production issues
  • Monitor changes to applications and maintain support documentation
  • Prioritize and handle service requests, incidents, change management and problem tickets

  • Experience in designing and building integrations using Java Springboot
  • Strong understanding of HTTP, RESTful API design, and web services
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl
