Description For Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer

Marvell, a leading semiconductor solutions provider, is seeking a Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer for their Boise, ID office. This role is part of a team with a strong track record of successful design tapeouts in advanced process nodes. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on both physical design and methodology for next-generation, high-performance processor and data center chips in leading-edge CMOS technology.

The role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams across digital, RTL, and analog disciplines. You'll be implementing and supporting multi-voltage designs through all aspects of implementation, including place and route, static timing, and physical verification using industry-standard EDA tools. The position involves working with both local and global team members, providing technical direction, and mentoring junior colleagues.

The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years with a Master's in Electrical/Computer Engineering. Strong expertise in full-chip integration, RTL to GDS flows, and scripting skills in TCL/Python are essential. Knowledge of Verilog and experience with Cadence Innovus are valuable assets.

Responsibilities For Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer

  • Work with design teams across various disciplines such as Digital/RTL/Analog to ensure design convergence and integration
  • Implement/support designs with multi-voltage designs through all aspects of implementation
  • Work with RTL design teams to drive assembly and design closure
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentoring to junior employees
  • Write scripts in Shell, Python, and TCL to extract data and achieve productivity enhancements

Requirements For Senior Staff Physical Design Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering plus 3-5 years of experience, OR Master's Degree with 2-3 years experience
  • Expertise in full-chip & sub-hierarchy integration
  • Experience integrating and taping out large designs utilizing a digital design environment
  • Good understanding of RTL to GDS flows and methodology
  • Good scripting skills in TCL/Python
  • Knowledge of Verilog
  • Experience with Cadence Innovus (preferred)
