Description For Project Engineer - Stream Restoration

McAdams is seeking a Project Engineer for stream restoration projects. The role involves working as part of a project team to deliver stream and wetland restoration projects for public and private clients across the Southeast. Responsibilities include geomorphic assessments, stream and wetland restoration design, permitting, bid phase services, construction observation, and post-construction monitoring. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field, with 5+ years of experience. PE certification is required or the ability to obtain it within 1 year. The role demands technical expertise in engineering and design for stream and wetland restoration, proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS, and Rosgen or equivalent stream restoration training. The position offers opportunities to lead teams, manage projects, and grow key client relationships.

Responsibilities For Project Engineer - Stream Restoration

  • Resolve complex technical problems and mentor team members
  • Lead geomorphic assessments (cross section and longitudinal profile survey, pebble counts, BEHI analysis)
  • Design, analyze, and permit stream and wetland restoration projects
  • Develop technical memos and mitigation plans
  • Complete hydrograph routing, riverine modeling, FEMA flood studies, and related certifications
  • Guide projects from concept through construction administration
  • Lead annual monitoring activities and prepare reports
  • Perform field work for assessments, construction observation, and monitoring
  • Coordinate resource scheduling and manage project budgets
  • Ensure quality on all projects and work performed by group staff

Requirements For Project Engineer - Stream Restoration

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering, or related field
  • PE certification required or ability to obtain within 1 year
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Rosgen or equivalent stream restoration training
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS
  • Technical expertise in engineering and design for stream and wetland restoration
