Description For Imaging Systems Engineer

Meta's Imaging Experience Architecture (iXA) team is seeking an experienced Imaging Systems Engineer to help shape the future of display technology. This role combines advanced imaging expertise with practical engineering implementation, focusing on creating optimal content reproduction across Meta's device ecosystem.

The position involves working with cutting-edge AR/VR technology, where you'll collaborate with world-class architects, scientists, and engineers. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing display and camera pipelines, with emphasis on rapid prototyping of new architectural concepts. Key areas include general image processing, color transformations, tone mapping, and foveated color processing.

The role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $117,000 to $173,000 annually, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Based in Sunnyvale, CA, you'll be part of Meta's Facebook Reality Labs division, working on next-generation display technologies.

As an ideal candidate, you should have a Ph.D. in engineering, vision science, computer science, or related fields, along with strong programming skills in languages like OpenGL/OpenCL, C++, Matlab, and Python. Experience with AR/VR systems, display technology, and color science is crucial. You'll need to demonstrate both technical expertise and collaborative abilities, as you'll be working across teams to transition proof-of-concept technologies into product features.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about advancing display technology and interested in working at the intersection of hardware and software in the AR/VR space. You'll be contributing to Meta's mission of building the next evolution in social technology, moving beyond traditional 2D screens toward immersive experiences that will shape the future of human interaction.
