Description For Network Engineer, Deployment & Support

Meta is seeking a Network Engineer to join their infrastructure team, focusing on deployment and support of one of the world's largest and most complex networks. This role presents a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge network infrastructure, including optical, backbone, and edge network systems.

The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $133,000 to $190,000 annually, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. As a Network Engineer at Meta, you'll be part of a team that's pushing the boundaries of network infrastructure to support Meta's diverse portfolio of social technologies and future AR/VR initiatives.

The ideal candidate should be a proactive problem-solver with hands-on experience in optical networks and infrastructure. You'll be responsible for supporting build activities, performing complex network migrations, and maintaining standards for metro, regional, and long-haul DWDM systems. Key technical requirements include experience with optical network design, installation, and maintenance, knowledge of optical theory and transport technologies, and familiarity with data center operations. You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, along with demonstrated ability in deploying and migrating optical networks.

Responsibilities For Network Engineer, Deployment & Support

  • Support build activities including design, build, configuration, and migration in large-scale production optical network
  • Plan, schedule and perform complex optical and backbone network migrations
  • Maintain standards for all builds and design packages for metro, regional and long-haul DWDM rings/systems
  • Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership during deployment activities
  • Review and maintain acceptance documents from vendors and subcontractors
  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting
  • Contribute to documentation, automation and processes
  • Drive problem management initiatives
  • Support multiple stakeholder organizations
  • Help drive workflow management tooling requirements
