Description For Research Scientist Intern, Interactive Physics Simulations (PhD)

Meta Reality Labs Research is seeking a Research Scientist Intern for Interactive Physics Simulations (PhD) to help develop the next generation interactive physics simulators for MR and VR applications. The ideal candidate should have experience with physics simulations, computational mechanics, computer graphics, and machine/deep learning methods to devise acceleration strategies for high-fidelity simulations in real-time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and testing novel numerical methods for interactive simulation of soft deformable bodies, fluids, and physics-based sound.
  • Implementing numerical methods for optimization, linear algebra, PDEs, and AI/ML.
  • Collaborating with research scientists and software engineers to build demos and experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in computer science, computer graphics, computational mechanics, machine learning, or a related field.
  • Strong research skills and experience implementing numerical methods and/or deep learning models.
  • Proficiency in C++ and/or Python.
  • Work authorization in the country of employment.

Preferred qualifications include a track record of achievements, experience with high-performance computing, deep learning tools, game engines, and cross-functional teamwork.

The internship lasts 12-24 weeks, with some projects requiring a minimum of 16 consecutive weeks. Meta offers a competitive salary range of $7,500 to $11,333 per month plus benefits.
