Description For Developer Relations Engineer

Metronome, a leading usage-based billing platform, is seeking a Developer Relations Engineer to spearhead their documentation strategy and developer experience initiatives. This role presents an exciting opportunity to join a well-funded startup ($128M raised) backed by prestigious investors including NEA, Andreessen Horowitz, and General Catalyst. The company serves notable clients like OpenAI, Databricks, NVIDIA, and Anthropic.

The position combines technical writing expertise with hands-on engineering, requiring someone who can create comprehensive documentation while contributing to the broader developer experience. You'll be responsible for owning the documentation strategy, creating clear API and SDK documentation, developing tutorials and sample applications, and building tools to improve documentation workflows.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of technical experience with at least 3 years focused on documentation. You should have strong software development skills, excellent technical writing abilities, and experience with API documentation. The role requires proficiency in multiple programming languages and familiarity with documentation tools and Git workflows.

Working at Metronome offers the opportunity to impact how modern software companies handle billing and pricing. You'll join an experienced team with founders who have successfully built and sold startups before, and work alongside alumni from companies like Dropbox, Clever, and New Relic. The company offers comprehensive benefits including excellent healthcare coverage, 401(k) plans, flexible time off, and mental health support.

This role would be perfect for someone who enjoys bridging the gap between technical products and developer communities, has a passion for clear technical communication, and wants to contribute to a rapidly growing platform that's reshaping how companies handle usage-based billing.
