Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is seeking a Datacenter Electrical Engineer - EPMS to join their team responsible for building and maintaining critical cloud infrastructure. This role combines deep technical expertise in electrical engineering with strategic oversight of datacenter operations.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $117,200 - $229,200 (higher in SF and NYC areas) and requires 8+ years of technical engineering experience or equivalent education combinations. The role is hybrid, allowing up to 50% work from home, with locations in major tech hubs including Seattle, Atlanta, DC, and Phoenix.

As a Datacenter Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for critical infrastructure that powers Microsoft's cloud services. Key responsibilities include managing electrical systems specifications, overseeing power distribution systems, and ensuring robust backup power systems. You'll work with cutting-edge technology while collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

Responsibilities For Datacenter Electrical Engineer - EPMS

  • Oversee specification and drawings development for electrical systems
  • Manage AE consultants for design compliance with Microsoft standards
  • Lead EPMS workgroups with representatives from AE consulting firms
  • Technical review of lease and colocation datacenters
  • Interface with procurement team, manufacturers, and commissioning team
  • Assist Operations teams with EPMS system improvements
  • Travel to sites for Factory Witness Testing and commissioning

Requirements For Datacenter Electrical Engineer - EPMS

  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience OR Master's degree with 3+ years experience
  • Must pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check
  • US citizenship required
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Experience with power system analysis and engineering software packages
  • Knowledge of digital cyber security practices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams of engineers
