Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their Office 365 (O365) Enterprise Cloud service team. This role combines systems engineering, software development, and online services experience to ensure unmatched service availability and user satisfaction within Exchange Online.

The position sits within M365 Office Engineering Direct (OED), where the SRE team plays a crucial role in maintaining and improving Exchange Online's vast infrastructure spanning hundreds of components. The team's approach involves implementing proactive engineering solutions, comprehensive monitoring, and swift diagnostics to manage service reliability effectively.

As an SRE, you'll be at the forefront of integrating AI and ML technologies with SRE practices, working on predictive analytics to anticipate issues before they occur. You'll develop customized ML models to analyze vast data lakes, identifying patterns and correlations that enhance service reliability.

The role offers competitive compensation, with base pay ranging from $117,200 to $229,200 per year (higher ranges apply for San Francisco and New York City locations). You'll work in a remote capacity, with travel requirements of 0-25%.

Key responsibilities include maintaining deep technical knowledge, driving code reviews, developing automation solutions, and serving as a technical advisor for customer escalations. You'll also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of experience in software engineering or systems administration, strong cloud platform knowledge (particularly Azure), and expertise in programming languages like C++, C#, or Node.JS. Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools is highly valued.
