Description For Support Engineer (DAS Japan)

Microsoft is seeking a Support Engineer for their Developer Azure Services (DAS) team in Japan. The role involves providing technical support for various Azure services and developer tools. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical support via phone (20%) and email/web (80%)
  • Collaborating with global support engineers, managers, and development teams
  • Using debugging skills, source code analysis, and troubleshooting tools to solve complex problems
  • Creating sample code and providing optimal solutions for high-impact customer issues
  • Providing feedback to product development teams for quality improvement
  • Contributing to case deflection efforts and creating self-help resources
  • Developing and delivering training to other engineers
  • Participating in technical collaborations with other departments
  • Building and participating in global communities based on workload and specialization

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 3+ years of experience in technical support, consulting, or IT (or a bachelor's degree in a related field with 1+ year of experience)
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills and customer focus
  • Experience with programming languages such as C, C++, C#, .NET, Java, Python, etc.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, networking, Active Directory, and OS architecture
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English (business level)

The role offers flexible work arrangements, including remote work options and shift-based schedules to accommodate emergency response and 24/7 support. The position may require occasional travel and on-call duties.
