MERL is seeking a highly motivated individual for an internship focused on robotic manipulation using visuo-tactile learning. The research will involve developing robot motor skills for complex, dexterous manipulation utilizing vision and tactile perception.
The ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
This internship is particularly suited for senior PhD students in robotics and engineering with a focus on contact-rich manipulation. Prior experience working with physical robotic systems, including vision and tactile sensors, is required as results need to be implemented on physical hardware. Strong coding skills in Python ML libraries such as PyTorch are essential.
The internship is expected to last 4-5 months, starting in Aug/Sept 2024, and is preferred to be onsite at MERL in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A successful internship will result in the submission of results to a peer-reviewed robotics journal in collaboration with MERL researchers.
Research areas for this internship include:
This is an excellent opportunity for a PhD student to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge robotics research, work with state-of-the-art equipment, and contribute to advancements in visuo-tactile learning for dexterous manipulation. The internship offers the chance to work alongside experienced researchers and potentially publish in a respected journal, providing valuable experience and exposure in the field of robotics and AI.
