We are looking for an experienced Senior AI Engineer to join our team. You will be a part of an AI Engineering team focused on GenAI infrastructure and applications. This team is responsible for delivering on Roofstocks GenAI strategy by providing infrastructure for other teams to use and building zero to one point solutions for others to adopt in their applications. You are expected to use software engineering best practices adapted to a non-deterministic technology, Generative AI, which will require flexibility while maintaining high standards of reliability. While our goals are clear, how we get there can be ambiguous with emerging technologies requiring you to be creative in your problem solving.
This role reports to the AI Engineering Manager within the Data organization. Data is centralized within Roofstock and provides solutions for all of our applications and business to utilize.
Roofstock is the leading end-to-end investment platform for single-family rental homes (SFR), with a mission to make real estate investing radically accessible, cost-effective, and simple. We successfully merge our passion for helping investors build wealth through real estate with cutting-edge technology that transforms the way they do it.
With a talented team of 600+ Roofsters, our collaborative, can-do culture fuels our growth. In 2022, we closed on our Series E, raising $240 million, and have offices in California, Texas, and New York as well as many remote opportunities. Our growth includes recent acquisitions of Great Jones (full-service property management), Stessa (financial management software), Rent Prep (tenant screening and placement service for landlords), and Mynd (property management platform for both Retail and Institutional investors).
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will work with a distributed engineering team across multiple time zones/countries, cultivate high standards for communication, ownership, and quality while executing asynchronously, architect and implement innovative GenAI based solutions, and partner with other technical leaders to refine and deliver on our GenAI strategy. You'll need to stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices, driving continuous improvement in development processes.
The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience building applications as an engineer, a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), experience building AI applications (ideally GenAI based utilizing Agents, RAG and LLMs), experience with AWS infrastructure, and strong experience with Java, Python, distributed systems design (microservices), and data assets.
This is a remote position for candidates in the Americas (non-US), with a compensation range of $67,500 - $91,500 USD annual salary, which may be adjusted based on experience and location. The role requires fluent English, ability to work ~40 hours/week Monday-Friday, and availability until noon Pacific time zone for occasional meetings and Slack communication.
