This role focuses on building data products that enhance Netflix's security posture across their cloud infrastructure. The position involves creating reliable data pipelines and products that provide visibility into security, fraud, and technology risks affecting both customer accounts and internal systems.
The role requires expertise in distributed data processing technologies like Spark, Presto, Flink, and Kafka. You'll be responsible for developing ETL jobs, building data models, and creating scalable solutions that help understand and secure Netflix's extensive technology footprint. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in data engineering with security experience, proficiency in Scala/Java/Python, and advanced SQL skills.
Working in a hybrid model from the contiguous US, you'll join a diverse team of data professionals while partnering with analytics engineering and data science teams. The compensation range is competitive ($170,000 - $720,000) and reflects Netflix's commitment to paying top market rates.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer (L4) - Security
- Engineer efficient, adaptable and scalable data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data
- Develop a deep understanding of the security ecosystem at Netflix
- Partner with security engineering teams to understand product goals and provide data
- Maintain and rethink existing datasets and pipelines
- Enable smart analytics by building robust, reliable data sets for various analytic techniques
- Work with team of data engineers, analytics engineering and data science counterparts
Requirements For Data Engineer (L4) - Security
- Highly proficient in at least one of Java, Python or Scala (Scala preferred) with at least 2 years of data engineering experience
- Advanced level SQL skills in a complex data environment
- Experience in engineering data pipelines using big data technologies (Spark, Presto, Flink etc.)
- Comfortable working cross functionally with multiple stakeholder groups
- Able to lead large, complex systems design and implementation challenges independently
- Prior experience in the security space is strongly preferred
