Distributed Systems Engineer (L4) - Data Platform

Netflix is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer (L4) for their Data Platform team. Key responsibilities include:

• Solving real business needs at large scale using software engineering and analytical problem-solving skills
• Architecting and building robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure
• Leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with engineers, product managers, and TPMs across teams
• Sharing experiences with open source communities and contributing to Netflix OSS

The ideal candidate should have:

• 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications
• Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful web services
• Experience in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
• Expertise in Java or other object-oriented programming languages
• Comfort in tackling multi-threading challenges
• BS in Computer Science or a related field

The role offers opportunities to work on various data platform teams, including Big Data Warehouse and Iceberg, Gen AI Platform, Online Datastores, and Data Platform Infrastructure. Each team focuses on specific aspects of Netflix's data infrastructure, from managing exabyte-scale data warehouses to building developer platforms for GenAI applications.
