Description For Software Engineer (Test Set)

Northrop Grumman's Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Redondo Beach, CA. This role focuses on developing software for resource-constrained environments with real-time requirements for various flight, space, and ground systems.

The position involves working on complex data analysis, data routing, and control systems algorithms. The ideal candidate will have experience with various processors, memory, and I/O architectures, implementing both procedural and object-oriented software in C++. The role requires working with real-time operating systems like VxWorks and associated development tools.

As part of a larger engineering team, you'll be working in a process-oriented environment utilizing waterfall, spiral, or agile methodologies. The position requires strong communication skills and comfort working in a laboratory environment alongside talented engineers from various disciplines.

  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers
  • Determine system and user needs, analyze system capabilities
  • Prepare operating instructions
  • Design and develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems
  • Ensure software standards are met

Requirements For Software Engineer (Test Set)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM degree with 2+ years of software development experience, OR Master's Degree with 6 months of experience
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented software design, C++ programming, and Python
  • Experience executing in an RTOS environment (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, RT-Linux, GH Integrity)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
