Description For IT Network Engineer

Northwood Space is revolutionizing space connectivity through innovative communications technologies. As their Sr. IT Network Engineer, you'll lead the deployment and operations of IT systems and global ground network. This role combines technical engineering expertise with hands-on project execution, requiring collaboration with internal teams and external partners to meet ambitious timelines. You'll be responsible for network deployment, maintenance, and scaling operations.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on transformative space technology while building and maintaining critical infrastructure. You'll architect network designs that scale to hundreds of sites, manage internal IT systems, and ensure robust operations of both local and remote systems. The role requires expertise in network engineering, system administration, and hands-on technical implementation.

Responsibilities For IT Network Engineer

  • Own all internal IT systems and their operations
  • Source and install hardware across the campus
  • Configure servers and firewalls, support remote device activations, and support fiber backbone testing
  • Build systems for monitoring health and telemetry of local and remote systems
  • Develop and lead planned and emergency maintenance of network systems
  • Architect the network design and organization to scale to 100s of sites

Requirements For IT Network Engineer

Python
Linux
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in systems administrator or network engineering
  • Deep understanding of the OSI model and networking standards
  • Experience building and troubleshooting fiber optics networks
  • Experience designing and building racks or data centers
  • Ability to code in Python, C++, or other scripting languages
  • Experience implementing and operating hybrid networks
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, switches, servers
  • Experience in building and maintaining databases or ticketing systems
