Odyssey, a pioneering AI video technology company founded by Oliver Cameron and Jeff Hawke, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own their ML/data platform. This role combines infrastructure, tooling, and data pipeline development to enable researchers to work efficiently with multimodal data. The position offers significant technical autonomy and growth opportunities.
The role involves designing and implementing scalable data pipelines for processing large-scale multimodal datasets (PB-scale), including images, video, and 3D data. You'll be responsible for building and managing multi-node, multi-cloud Kubernetes clusters for distributed training, implementing monitoring systems, and supporting real-time inference requirements.
Odyssey has assembled a world-class team from companies like Waymo, Tesla, Meta, Cruise, Wayve, and Microsoft. They've secured significant venture capital from prestigious investors, and Ed Catmull, Pixar's founder, serves on their board. This position offers the opportunity to shape technical strategy, build the data platform engineering team, and establish key partnerships in the ML infrastructure community.
The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong Python expertise, and deep knowledge of data pipelines and Kubernetes. Experience with distributed computing frameworks (Ray), workflow orchestration (Flyte), and vector databases is a plus. The role requires someone who is self-directed, has a strong bias for action, and excellent communication skills.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior engineer looking to make a significant impact in the AI video space, working with cutting-edge technology and a team of accomplished professionals. The position offers the flexibility of remote work while being part of a fast-growing, well-funded startup at the forefront of AI innovation.
