OpenAI is seeking a Client Platform Engineer to join their IT organization in a pivotal role enhancing and maintaining endpoint management infrastructure across macOS and iOS devices. This position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and contribute to building a security-first, automation-driven endpoint ecosystem.
The role focuses on building scalable, automated solutions for seamless deployments, advanced security configurations, and efficient operational workflows. You'll collaborate with IT, Security, and Engineering teams to implement modern endpoint management practices using automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and monitoring strategies.
As a Client Platform Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and implementing automation solutions, managing MDM platforms, developing IaC solutions, and implementing security frameworks. The position requires expertise in Python, Bash scripting, and extensive experience with macOS and iOS environments at scale.
The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $185K to $310K, plus equity and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, mental health support, 401(k) matching, and generous parental leave. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco office.

Responsibilities For Client Platform Engineer
- Design and implement scalable endpoint automation solutions using Python and Bash
- Manage and optimize MDM solutions (Jamf Pro)
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions
- Implement zero-trust security frameworks for endpoint devices
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Define and implement patch management strategies
- Create and manage custom application installers
- Provide technical leadership in source control and configuration management
- Monitor and analyze endpoint performance
- Lead cross-functional efforts to enhance endpoint security, usability, and scalability
Requirements For Client Platform Engineer
- Extensive experience managing macOS and iOS environments at scale
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python and Bash
- Deep technical expertise in MDM platforms, particularly Jamf Pro
- Experience implementing security tooling
- Strong understanding of source control tools (e.g., Git)
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based services (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Proven track record of collaborating across teams
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks
