Forward Deployed Software Engineer

OpenAI is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to join their Technical Success team, working at the intersection of customer solutions and AI technology. This role represents a unique opportunity to work with OpenAI's most strategic customers, translating abstract ideas into production applications. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and customer-facing skills, as you'll be responsible for designing and implementing scalable solutions that leverage OpenAI's APIs to solve real customer problems.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $200K – $310K plus equity, and is based in multiple locations including San Francisco, New York City, London, Dublin, and Paris. The position follows a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office per week, and relocation assistance is provided.

As a Forward Deployed Software Engineer, you'll be part of a team that has seen significant growth in demand for hands-on technical expertise. You'll work closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Architects, and Customer Success Managers, while also providing valuable feedback to Research and Applied Product and Engineering teams.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of professional engineering experience, with proficiency in both front-end (React/Next.js) and back-end (Python, Node.js) development. Experience with relational databases and a willingness to travel up to 50% for customer engagement are essential. While direct AI/ML experience isn't required, an interest in the field is important.
