OpenAI is seeking a Silicon Implementation Engineer to join their Scaling team, focusing on hardware optimization and co-design for AI systems. Responsibilities For Silicon Implementation Engineer – Custom Circuits

  • Co-design future hardware for programmability and performance with hardware vendors
  • Assist hardware vendors in developing optimal kernels and add support in compiler
  • Develop performance estimates for critical kernels
  • Build system performance models at different abstraction levels
  • Work with ML engineers, kernel engineers and compiler developers
  • Manage communication with internal and external partners
  • Influence hardware partners' roadmap
  • Evaluate potential partners' accelerators and platforms
  • Optimize ML platform code for target hardware

Requirements For Silicon Implementation Engineer – Custom Circuits

Python
  • 4+ years of industry experience in compute at scale
  • Strong experience in software/hardware co-design
  • Deep understanding of GPU and/or other AI accelerators
  • Experience with CUDA, Triton or related accelerator programming language
  • Experience driving Machine Learning accuracy with low precision formats
  • Experience with system performance modeling and analysis
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python
  • Familiar with deep learning computing and chip architecture
  • Ability to collaborate with ML engineers and other technical teams
