Description For Solutions Engineer Manager, Strategics

OpenAI is seeking an experienced leader to build and lead a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers in the Strategics segment. As a Solutions Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective deployment of ChatGPT and OpenAI API applications for developers and enterprises. Your team will act as trusted advisors and thought leaders, helping the largest companies transform their business through AI solutions such as customer service, automated content generation, and novel applications using OpenAI's newest models.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Team development: Recruiting and mentoring Solutions Engineers, focusing on cultivating high-performing professionals.
  2. Strategic evolution: Guiding the advancement of technology and operating rhythm to align with OpenAI's strategic objectives.
  3. Customer-centric leadership: Maintaining a proactive role in sales and support of technical products, emphasizing customer satisfaction and business value.
  4. Culture of excellence: Promoting innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of experience in a technical pre-sales role, managing C-level technical and business relationships with complex global organizations.
  • 2+ years of experience leading pre-sales teams with a demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and manage high-performing technical teams.
  • Thorough understanding of IT security principles and customer requirements for technical B2B SaaS products.
  • Industry experience in programming languages like Python or Javascript.
  • Experience delivering prototypes of Generative AI/traditional ML solutions and knowledge of network/cloud architecture.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, able to translate business and technical topics to all audiences.
  • A humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues, and willingness to do whatever it takes for team success.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. OpenAI offers competitive compensation, including a salary range of $280K – $345K, generous equity, and comprehensive benefits.
