Senior Backend Engineer (Python + Django, US)

We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in fast-paced, early-stage environments. You'll work directly with the company's founders and help shape both the product and technical direction. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role ideal for someone who enjoys building across the stack and shipping features quickly.

Optery is automated opt out software, and we serve individuals, families and businesses. Our mission is to empower people to take control of their personal data, and we have a vision for a safer world through data privacy. The service is used to prevent threats like phishing, social engineering, identity theft, harassment and physical violence.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Python/Django, REST frameworks, asynchronous job execution, databases (Postgres, NoSQL), security best practices, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred). You'll be working on designing maintainable, scalable backend components and implementing third-party API integrations.

Optery has completed its AICPA SOC 2, Type II security certification and has raised $10M+ in seed funding from Y Combinator and other world-class investors. We operate as a fully-remote global team, so strong communication skills and self-direction are essential for success in this role.
