Principal Software Engineer

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Technical Strategy and Oversight (TSO) organization. This role focuses on supporting customer choice, transparency, and value in cloud infrastructure through innovative platforms and high-performance primitives. The position involves working on ambitious initiatives including new container runtime development, data-plane frameworks, and performance optimization across OCI services.

The role is part of the newly established Cloud Performance Organization, which is crucial in addressing service inefficiencies, reducing cloud expenses, and improving customer experience. As a Principal Engineer, you'll be responsible for optimizing critical components, developing internal tools, and fostering a culture of performance engineering.

This is a greenfield opportunity to design and build new cloud services from the ground up. The ideal candidate should have experience with major feature design and production deployment, deep understanding of control plane architecture, and the ability to work independently while providing technical leadership to development teams.

• Working with engineering managers and TPMs
• Providing guidance to junior team members
• Handling high-level system design and architectural documentation
• Conducting engineering peer reviews
• Performing hands-on prototyping and code reviews
