Description For Senior Corporate Counsel - Development & Engineering

The Development and Engineering Legal Team within Oracle's legal department is responsible for providing legal support for all of Oracle's software development and hardware engineering organizations worldwide. The team works closely with Oracle Development executives to complete agreements between Oracle and its strategic software and hardware suppliers and to evaluate and provide legal advice with respect to inbound software licensing, open source, AI/ML, etc.

As a Senior Corporate Counsel, you will join a collaborative group of attorneys with an interesting and diverse technology law practice. This position is best suited to an attorney with a significant IP background, and commercial negotiating and contracting experience who has the ability to handle a variety of tasks, evaluate alternatives quickly, and provide top quality legal assistance and support to executive-level clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal support for software development and hardware engineering organizations
  • Completing agreements with strategic software and hardware suppliers
  • Evaluating and providing legal advice on inbound software licensing, open source, and AI/ML
  • Coordinating efforts to ensure Oracle contracts and software licenses comply with company policies
  • Defining policies, practices, and procedures within the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant legal experience, including inbound Open Source licensing review, data licensing issues, and AI/ML in a technology company
  • Bar certified, in good standing, in a state in the US
  • Strong background in Open Source licensing and AI/ML use
