Description For Senior Software Engineer (Perception & Localization)

Orchard Robotics is an innovative seed-stage startup backed by prominent investors like General Catalyst and Contrary, dedicated to revolutionizing agriculture through AI and robotics. They're building advanced camera systems and software solutions to help farmers manage their operations more efficiently and sustainably.

The Senior Software Engineer (Perception & Localization) role is a crucial position where you'll be working on developing sophisticated algorithms for their camera systems that analyze billions of fruit across vast farmlands. The position requires expertise in computer vision, sensor fusion, and robotics software development, with a focus on creating practical solutions for real-world agricultural challenges.

As an early engineer in the company, you'll receive generous equity compensation and work directly with the CEO and the entire team. The role offers comprehensive benefits including full health coverage and flexible working hours. The work environment is fast-paced and mission-driven, with every contribution directly impacting food sustainability and reducing waste.

The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience and deep expertise in areas like computer vision, stereo depth perception, pose estimation, or robotics hardware. You'll be working with technologies like Python, C++, and Rust, optimizing code for edge computing performance on systems like NVIDIA Jetson.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about applying cutting-edge technology to solve real-world agricultural challenges while making a positive impact on food security and sustainability. The role offers both technical challenges and the opportunity to grow with a promising startup that's already working with some of the largest farms in the nation.
