As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll lead technical initiatives to develop reliable and maintainable applications that simplify healthcare interactions for both members and providers. The position requires 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 5 years leading cross-company deliverables and technical teams.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in building scalable applications and mentoring other engineers. You'll collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to solve complex healthcare technology challenges. Key responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert, leading complex technical projects, and ensuring high-quality code standards.

Oscar Health offers a blended work culture with flexible remote options. If you're near their offices in New York City, Tempe, or Los Angeles, you'll need to be in-office two days per week. Otherwise, you can work remotely from numerous eligible states.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on business and technical domains
  • Lead planning, execution and release of complex technical projects across multiple teams
  • Work with partners, product managers, and designers to solve challenging problems
  • Lead and mentor engineers and engineering teams
  • Ensure team's delivery of large or complex technology capabilities
  • Facilitate culture of collaboration within engineering team
  • Work with leadership on technical roadmap prioritization
  • Guide development of Service-Level Objectives (SLOs)
  • Build maintainable software and reduce failure domains

Requirements For Staff Software Engineer, Fullstack
