Description For Senior Automation Engineer

PepsiCo, a global leader in beverages and convenient foods, is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer for their facility in Cork, Ireland. This role is part of PepsiCo Global Concentrate Solutions (PGCS), which is at the heart of producing concentrates for mega brands including Gatorade, 7Up, and Pepsi.

The position requires an experienced professional with a strong background in industrial automation, PLC programming, and manufacturing systems. You'll be responsible for providing critical automation support, managing system improvements, and ensuring the efficient operation of manufacturing processes. The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning and project management.

Key responsibilities include daily automation support, validation protocol execution, capital project support, and maintaining system documentation. You'll work with cutting-edge automation technologies and be responsible for evaluating and implementing improvements to the automation environment.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree and at least 5 years of experience with process control, PLC/SCADA systems, and IT architecture. Experience with specific technologies like Allen-Bradley PLCs, Wonderware systems, and various industrial networking protocols is highly valued. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teams are essential.

Responsibilities For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Provide day-to-day automation and manufacturing support to business users throughout the sites
  • Play a key role in the review, approval and execution process of validation protocols
  • Support capital projects including conceptual design, scope of work, project schedules, and status reports
  • Development and/or review of URS for process and automation systems
  • Support IT operations and maintenance groups as an escalation point for technical issues
  • Create and maintain operational as-built documentation for plant control system infrastructure
  • Manage change control process for Automation Systems
  • Evaluate automation environment for optimal efficiency and functionality
  • Develop standard data structures for manufacturing control systems
  • Liaise with major equipment vendors to ensure compliance to specifications

Requirements For Senior Automation Engineer

  • Engineering degree with minimum 5 years process control, PLC/SCADA, IT architecture experience
  • Experience in Automation Validation in accordance with GAMP and cGMP
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC's, Wonderware InTouch, InBatch, InSQL, ASI, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, EtherNet
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work without close supervision in a team environment
  • High energy level and strong work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple high impact projects simultaneously
