Description For Tooling Engineer-Contract

Pivotal, the pioneer in electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is seeking a Tooling Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering team in Palo Alto. Known for the groundbreaking BlackFly and the upcoming Helix aircraft, Pivotal is at the forefront of innovative aviation technology.

The role demands a skilled professional with 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience, focusing on tooling design and process optimization. You'll be responsible for designing assembly fixtures, molds, and jigs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency. The position requires expertise in CAD software, particularly Catia V5/V6, and a strong foundation in manufacturing processes.

As a Tooling Engineer, you'll lead projects from concept to execution, conduct tolerance analysis, and implement solutions that improve productivity and quality. Responsibilities For Tooling Engineer-Contract

  • Design required tooling (assembly fixtures, molds, jigs, etc.) for part and aircraft assembly
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling designs meet specifications
  • Conduct tolerance analysis and ensure designs comply with industry standards
  • Analyze design options to provide cost estimates for tooling projects
  • Define and document manufacturing processes, workflows, and operating procedures
  • Identify areas for process improvement
  • Collaborate with product designers for manufacturing considerations
  • Support production teams in troubleshooting
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through execution

Requirements For Tooling Engineer-Contract

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Catia V5/V6 preferred)
  • Proficiency with creating drawings using GD&T principles
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
