Pivotal, the pioneer in electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is seeking a Tooling Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering team in Palo Alto. The role demands a skilled professional with 5-7 years of manufacturing engineering experience, focusing on tooling design and process optimization. You'll be responsible for designing assembly fixtures, molds, and jigs while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency. The position requires expertise in CAD software, particularly Catia V5/V6, and a strong foundation in manufacturing processes.
As a Tooling Engineer, you'll lead projects from concept to execution, conduct tolerance analysis, and implement solutions that improve productivity and quality. Responsibilities For Tooling Engineer-Contract
- Design required tooling (assembly fixtures, molds, jigs, etc.) for part and aircraft assembly
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling designs meet specifications
- Conduct tolerance analysis and ensure designs comply with industry standards
- Analyze design options to provide cost estimates for tooling projects
- Define and document manufacturing processes, workflows, and operating procedures
- Identify areas for process improvement
- Collaborate with product designers for manufacturing considerations
- Support production teams in troubleshooting
- Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
- Lead engineering projects from concept through execution
Requirements For Tooling Engineer-Contract
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
- Proficiency in CAD software (Catia V5/V6 preferred)
- Proficiency with creating drawings using GD&T principles
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
