Senior Software Engineer

Polaron, a promising spin-out from Imperial College London, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team of nine. The company sits at the intersection of AI and materials science, building cutting-edge solutions for the materials of the future. They're developing a cloud-based SaaS product that enables materials engineers to leverage state-of-the-art image-based AI through an intuitive interface.

The role offers significant autonomy and influence over the platform's development, focusing on challenging technical problems like scaling canvas-based image processing to handle 10k+ resolution images and managing GPU cluster autoscaling. The position requires expertise in frontend development with React, experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), and the ability to work across the full technology stack.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of product-focused software engineering experience, strong technical communication skills, and a degree in a relevant field. The role combines hands-on engineering with product development, requiring both technical excellence and customer-facing skills. The company offers a competitive salary range of £85,000-130,000, along with benefits including equity, 25 holiday days, and a modern office in East London's Shoreditch area.
