The position involves collaborating with the CPU microarchitecture team to implement designs that meet aggressive power, area, and performance goals using industry-standard tools and flows. The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing Verilog RTL into gate-level designs, performing optimizations, and ensuring robust functional and electrical performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in CPU design and physical implementation. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $122,500 to $183,700, plus additional benefits including annual bonuses and RSU grants. Responsibilities For CPU Physical Design Engineer - San Diego

  • Work with CPU microarchitecture team to understand specifications and design trade offs
  • Perform feasibilities to validate implementability, area, timing and power
  • Synthesize Verilog RTL into gate level designs and perform optimizations
  • Perform SynthPlace & Route using industry standard tools and deliver GDS
  • Optimize design at various stages from RTL to GDS
  • Validate designs for functional and electrical robustness

Requirements For CPU Physical Design Engineer - San Diego

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years experience
  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture
  • Experience in deep submicron process technology nodes
  • Knowledge of library cells and optimizations
  • Understanding of industry standard tools for synthesis, place & route and tapeout flows
  • Experience with Synthesis, place and route and signoff timing/power analysis
  • Knowledge of high performance and low power implementation methods
