Description For Lab Technician, Automotive Software

The candidate's responsibility is to handle testing, setting up + debugging development platforms in a lab setting. The individual in this role will be supporting the engineers in this department and collaborating with support personnel. The candidate will also be responsible for handling QCOM hardware platforms, installing development platforms, running, and debugging software.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in lab cleanliness, health & safety, and organization of the lab
  • Perform ESD testing every quarter
  • Manage inventory of test equipment, dev platforms and tools
  • Update automotive development platforms with latest software builds
  • Gather test equipment for calibration
  • Troubleshoot development platforms/lab setups
  • Work with engineers and support personnel to assess existing inventory and place and follow up on new orders
  • Support lab service requests from engineer teams
  • Assist R&D + support teams on lab initiatives

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an electronic/software technician is a must
  • Technologist diploma or certificate in the relevant computer and/or electronic field highly preferred
  • Must able to solder through-hole, SMT, wire-adds for board reworks at pace and as needed
  • Setup and debug issues with post-silicon hardware dev platforms including development boards, connectivity, and power supply equipment
  • Debugging system failures: Run tests on development platforms to isolate failures and discuss results and next steps with engineers
  • Setting up lab equipment and test software
  • Basic test equipment use (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc)
  • Reading/understanding of schematics, Bill of Materials
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiar with Windows PC's, basic networking protocols, and networking hardware including IP power switches

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to write/run Python scripts
  • Knowledge of Android Debug Bridge (ADB)
  • Android software
