Description For Senior Open Source Infrastructure Engineer

Quansight is seeking a fully remote Senior Open Source Infrastructure Engineer to support their growing cloud and on-premises infrastructure. The role involves contributing to nebari, an open-source Data Science platform, participating in upstream open source communities, deploying and ensuring reliable operation of infrastructure, and collaborating with a fully distributed team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to nebari, a platform built on JupyterHub, Dask, and PyData ecosystem tools
  • Participating in open source communities like JupyterHub, BinderHub, and Dask
  • Deploying and maintaining infrastructure for Quansight and clients
  • Collaborating with a distributed team to maximize impact

Requirements:

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, Cloudformation)
  • Production workload experience in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Development skills in a general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python)
  • CI/CD pipeline experience (GitHub actions, Gitlab CI/CD, Circle CI)
  • Modern software engineering practices knowledge
  • Containerization and deployment experience (Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Google Cloud Run)
  • Independent work capability with proactive communication
  • Online collaboration experience (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket)
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback

Bonus skills include experience with distributed teams, open-source contributions, Python Data Science stack, Jupyter ecosystem, data science methods, and MLOps platforms.
