Description For Autonomous Systems Platform Engineer

Quast Ltd is seeking an Autonomous Systems Platform Engineer for a prominent Defence organisation, focusing on critical software and cyber security assurance for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). This is a hybrid contract position based in Abbey Wood, Bristol, with regular Monday office attendance and monthly travel to Plymouth and Portsmouth.

The role centers on implementing secure-by-design principles for autonomous underwater systems, managing software safety hazards, and developing comprehensive test plans for autonomous operations. You'll be responsible for data security strategies for SCYLLA AUV equipment and establishing protocols for handling SECRET payloads and data.

As the ideal candidate, you'll bring strong expertise in software and cyber security analysis, with experience in product security and cyber assurance. Your ability to independently lead security initiatives and work with safety-critical software will be crucial. The position requires SC Clearance, with opportunities for dual nationality candidates subject to approval.

The contract offers a competitive day rate of £550 (approximately £143,000 annually) and extends until March 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior security engineer to work on cutting-edge maritime autonomous technologies while contributing to high-profile Defence projects. The hybrid working arrangement offers flexibility while maintaining regular team collaboration through scheduled office days.
