Description For Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)

Rackspace, a leading multicloud solutions provider, is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to join their team. This role sits at the intersection of MongoDB expertise and infrastructure automation, perfect for professionals who combine database administration skills with modern DevOps practices.

The position requires a skilled engineer who can handle the complexities of managing and optimizing MongoDB deployments at scale. You'll be working with MongoDB versions 6.0 through 8.0, implementing automation solutions, and ensuring high availability and performance of database systems. The role demands both technical depth in database management and broader DevOps capabilities, including infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD integration.

Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining high-performance MongoDB clusters, implementing monitoring and automated remediation systems, and driving backup and disaster recovery strategies. You'll work closely with SRE and DevOps teams, requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of relevant experience, either as an SRE managing database workloads or as a developer with advanced MongoDB knowledge. While a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, practical experience and expertise are paramount. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $116,100 to $198,400 depending on location and experience.

This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while being part of a dynamic team that's driving innovation in cloud solutions. You'll be joining a company consistently recognized as a best place to work by Fortune, Forbes, and Glassdoor, with a strong culture of embracing technology and empowering customers.

The role requires participation in on-call rotations and occasional travel (less than 10%). While primarily remote, the position demands high attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capability to handle moderate stress levels while maintaining system reliability and performance.
