Responsibilities For Principal Design/Package Engineer - Zone

Technical lead with team responsible for designing and packaging all vehicle parts across various systems
Oversee the total vehicle integration of all components and systems
Identify and resolve integration and design issues during vehicle development
Conduct cross-functional zone meetings, collaborating with product development teams
Ensure technical targets are met and solutions are optimized throughout the vehicle's lifecycle
Execute validation processes to ensure design integrity
Lead CAD Data Integrity efforts within the team
Conduct zone packaging meetings with clear agendas
Document and address issues discovered, collaborating with Design Release Engineers (DREs) and Designers
Lead clash and clearance studies to ensure proper integration of vehicle components
Manage and document clash and clearance reports
Coordinate review meetings for discovered issues and prioritize them for resolution
Document issues in Polarion and assign them for resolution
Provide weekly status reports on CAD maturity, data integrity, and overall progress

Requirements For Principal Design/Package Engineer - Zone

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; master's degree preferred
10+ years of experience within design and packaging or similar role
Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills
Excellent Catia skills
Direct development or package experience in multiple vehicle systems
Ability to lead teams and meetings through technical tradeoffs and optimized solutions with attention to detail
Broad vehicle technical and vehicle development process knowledge
Functional experience with NHTSA/FMVSS, CARB, EPA requirements a plus
