Senior/Principal Mobile Engineer (Android Focus)

Roblox is seeking a Senior/Principal Mobile Engineer with an Android focus to join their Platform Excellence team. This role involves driving the technical direction and vision of the Android platform, ensuring superior performance, reliability, and user experience across all 7 platforms Roblox runs on. The ideal candidate will lead architecture, design, and implementation on the Android platform, provide technical leadership, partner with product and design leaders, improve app performance, and drive the adoption of engineering best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

• Bringing delightful experiences to mobile apps used by tens of millions of users daily
• Leading architecture, design, and implementation on the Android platform
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers
• Partnering with product and design leaders to bring innovative ideas to life
• Continuously measuring and improving app performance
• Introducing latest industry trends, technologies, and standard processes in mobile development
• Driving the adoption of engineering best practices across teams

The ideal candidate should have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in client software development, focusing on mobile apps
• Cross-platform development experience with C++ and hardware APIs (a plus)
• Proven track record of leading high-quality mobile application development
• Experience with modern mobile architectures and large codebases
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Strong collaboration abilities across engineering teams
• Curiosity to learn new technologies and grow skills systematically
