Description For Sr. Machine Learning Engineer II (Remote)

FlightAware, part of Collins Aerospace under RTX, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their Aviation Insight group. This role focuses on building state-of-the-art machine learning systems that process massive amounts of aviation data - over 180 million messages per hour from 30,000+ data feeds. The position involves developing predictive models for runway landing times, gate arrival times, and other aviation-specific applications that power the FlightAware Foresight product suite.

The ideal candidate will work with the industry's most complete aviation dataset, building and improving machine learning models that directly impact operational efficiency for major airlines and airports. The role requires expertise in Python and deep learning frameworks, with opportunities to work with technologies like AWS, Apache Iceberg, and Elasticsearch. The position offers a blend of technical innovation and practical application in the aviation industry.

Working remotely, you'll be part of a highly collaborative engineering organization that values intellectual curiosity and technical innovation. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $124,000 to $250,000, along with comprehensive benefits including medical insurance, 401(k) matching, and various other perks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about machine learning and aviation to make a significant impact in the aerospace industry.

The position requires 10 years of relevant experience (or 7 with an advanced degree) and authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. The team emphasizes excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with talented senior engineers.
