Description For Stress Engineer - 6m Inside IR35

Safran Engineering Services UK Limited is seeking a Stress Engineer for a 6-month contract position at their Pitstone location. This role focuses on performing detailed finite element analysis of stationary and rotating assemblies using Ansys Workbench. The position requires an experienced professional who can conduct both sophisticated computer analyses and manual calculations for verification purposes. Working within a collaborative environment, the engineer will interface regularly with in-house design and stress teams, delivering high-quality technical documentation and presentations. The role demands expertise in various analysis types including linear & nonlinear stress, modal analysis, and rotordynamics, with additional value placed on experience with explicit dynamics analysis tools like LS-Dyna. The ideal candidate will possess deep understanding of materials science and damage mechanisms, particularly in relation to fatigue analysis. This position offers a professional environment with work-life balance benefits including early Friday finishes and on-site dining facilities. The role operates Inside IR35 with support available for agency and umbrella company connections if needed.

Responsibilities For Stress Engineer - 6m Inside IR35

  • Perform detailed finite element analysis of stationary and rotating assemblies using Ansys Workbench
  • Conduct hand-calculations for preliminary assessments and verification of analysis results
  • Work closely with in-house design and stress teams
  • Provide regular progress updates
  • Deliver high-quality presentations and technical reports

Requirements For Stress Engineer - 6m Inside IR35

  • Experience with product, assembly and component level meshing, model setup and analysis in Ansys Workbench
  • Expertise in Linear & nonlinear stress, modal, harmonic and random vibration analysis of stationary and rotating assemblies
  • Knowledge of Rotordynamics
  • Experience with explicit dynamics analysis (LS-Dyna preferred)
  • Understanding of metallic, non-metallic and composite materials and their behavior
  • Knowledge of damage mechanisms including plasticity and fatigue (LCF/HCF, experience with nCode preferred)
  • Technical report writing skills in English
  • Presentation skills
