Senior/Lead Database and Application Performance Engineer

Salesforce is seeking a Senior/Lead Database and Application Performance Engineer to join their Core Database Performance team. This is a critical role focused on maintaining and optimizing the performance of Salesforce's multitenant database infrastructure. The position is not a traditional DBA role, as it focuses on application and SQL layer optimization rather than direct database administration.

The Core Database Performance team plays a vital role in ensuring customer success by delivering high-performance, high-throughput database services while managing exponential growth in traffic and complexity. The team is at the forefront of innovation in troubleshooting techniques and interactive analytics, working to enable tuning at scale and enhance proactive monitoring to prevent incidents.

As a Senior/Lead Database Performance Engineer, you'll be responsible for monitoring and optimizing production workload performance, collaborating with development teams on product design, and working with operations staff to resolve performance issues. The role requires deep expertise in SQL performance tuning and database architecture, with at least 7 years of hands-on experience.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, performance monitoring tools, and experience with database clustering and multi-tenant architectures. Experience with PostgreSQL is considered a plus. Strong collaboration skills are essential as you'll be working closely with various teams across the organization.
